Elderly Man Stabbed to Death in Broad Daylight in Bakerganj, Barisal


Miscreants entered a house in broad daylight and stabbed Haji Abdus Sattar Hawladar to death in Bakerganj, Barisal. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on Tuesday (July 15) on the ground floor of a two-story building in the Goldar Bari area under Bakerganj Thana.

The deceased, Haji Abdus Sattar Hawladar (70), was the son of the late Rashid Hawladar of Goldar Bari and a retired sanitary inspector. The victim’s wife, Nasima Begum, recounted that around 12:30 PM on Tuesday, someone knocked on the door of their home. When her husband opened the door, an assailant immediately attacked him with a knife, inflicting severe wounds on various parts of his body. Hearing his cries, she rushed to save him, but the attacker fled before she could intervene. She described the assailant as wearing a Panjabi and having a beard. The victim’s nephew, Liton Hawladar, stated that his uncle, Sattar Hawladar, had no known enemies in the area. He expressed bewilderment over who could have committed the murder and for what reason. Dr. Zahid Hasan, a doctor at the Upazila Health Complex, confirmed that the victim sustained multiple stab wounds, leading to excessive blood loss. Haji Abdus Sattar Hawladar was already deceased before being brought to the hospital. Bakerganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said that an elderly man named Sattar Hawladar, aged 70, was stabbed to death inside his home by unknown assailants. Police have been dispatched to the scene, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators as quickly as possible.
