In a significant breakthrough, the Railway Police have arrested Nazrul Islam, the prime suspect in the sensational triple murder case of a mother and her two children in Bhalka, Mymensingh.
On Tuesday (July 15) afternoon, Nazrul Islam was apprehended at Joydebpur Railway Junction. The prime suspect, Nazrul Islam, is a resident of Sener Bazar village in Maska Union, Kendua Upazila, Netrokona.
The victims were identified as Moyna Akter (30), a housewife, her daughter Raisa (7), and her son Nirab (2). Nazrul Islam, the main accused, is the brother-in-law of the deceased Moyna Akter.
Nadimuzzaman, the officer-in-charge of Joydebpur Railway Police Outpost, told Kaler Kantho that Nazrul Islam, the prime suspect in the widely discussed murder case of a mother and her two children in Bhalka, Mymensingh, was arrested around 5 PM from Joydebpur Railway Station. He was subsequently handed over to Bhalka Thana Police.
On Sunday (July 13), police recovered the slit-throat bodies of Rafiqul Islam’s wife and two children from a house in the T&T Road area of Bhalka Municipality. Nazrul Islam, the brother of Rafiqul Islam, had been absconding since the incident.
Notably, Nazrul Islam and Rafiqul Islam, the husband of the deceased Moyna, are brothers, both hailing from Sener Bazar village in Maska Union, Kendua Upazila, Netrokona. Rafiqul works as a garment factory worker in Bhalka and lived in a rented house in the T&T Road area with his family. He occupied one room with his wife and children, while his younger brother, Nazrul Islam, lived in the adjacent room.
On Sunday (July 13), after finishing his night shift, Rafiqul returned home in the morning to find the door locked from the outside. Breaking the lock, he entered and discovered the slit-throat bodies of his wife and two children. Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies. However, Nazrul Islam had already fled.
