Police have recovered the body of a newborn from the Chawk Bazaar area in Lalbagh, Dhaka. The body was found on Sunday morning and later sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Naeem Hasan, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Lalbagh Police Station, confirmed the incident.
He stated that based on a tip-off, they recovered the body of a one-day-old infant girl from in front of a house on Kashmiri Tola Lane in Chawk Bazaar late Saturday night around 2 am. Following legal procedures, the body was sent to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Naeem Hasan added that an investigation is underway to identify who or what group abandoned the newborn. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to gather more details about the incident.
