Police have recovered the body of a young man with his throat slit from a rice field in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar. The deceased, Liton Mia (27), was the son of Sattar Mia from Pashchim Nandgram.
On Tuesday (September 9), locals spotted Liton Mia’s body near a mosque in Pashchim Nandgram under Patanushar Union and informed the Shamshernagar Police Outpost. Police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It is suspected that he was murdered on Monday night. However, the identity of the perpetrator(s) or the motive behind the killing remains unknown.
Locals reported that Liton Mia had disputes with several people in the area and was allegedly involved in theft and other antisocial activities. However, they expressed that killing him in this manner was unjust.
Patanushar Union Parishad Chairman Oli Ahmad Khan said, “I came to the scene after hearing about the incident. The police have recovered the body.”
Shamshernagar Police Outpost In-Charge Obaydul Haque stated, “The body has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The reason for the murder is yet to be determined.”
