The accused are identified as Sajib (20), son of Jahangir Alam, Sohel Rana (18), son of Anarul, and Nahid Islam (19), all from Dakshin Dhumaithari village. According to police and local sources, the victim frequently communicated with her neighbor, Sajib, over the phone. On Thursday night, Sajib asked her to meet him. On Friday night, citing an important matter, he lured her outside her home. Using manipulation and blackmail, Sajib took her to a nearby bamboo grove in Chittaranjan, where he forcibly raped her. Subsequently, his two friends, Nahid and Sohel, took turns raping her before fleeing the scene.
Passersby learned of the incident, rescued the girl, and took her home. Although the accused attempted to suppress the matter, the victim contacted the national emergency helpline 999 on Friday afternoon. The police rescued her and brought her to the Victim Support Center at the police station. She is scheduled to undergo a medical examination at Gaibandha Modern Sadar Hospital on Saturday morning.
Sundarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hakim Azad confirmed the incident, stating that the victim has been placed in the Victim Support Center. A case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, and police operations are ongoing to apprehend the accused. The incident has sparked widespread criticism in the area.
