According to local sources, Azhar, son of Abu Taher from Dhapunia village in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona, resides with his family as a tenant in the house of Samad Hazir in the Ideal Mor area of Jamirdia village and works at a local factory. The victim’s family, hailing from Chandrathlikhila village in Bhaluka Upazila, also resides as tenants in the same house. The girl’s father is an autorickshaw driver by profession.
On Wednesday night, Azhar allegedly lured the child to his room under the pretext of showing her pictures on his phone and raped her. The assault left the child bleeding and severely injured. On Thursday morning, the girl’s mother noticed blood on her daughter’s half-pants. After the child disclosed the incident to her mother, locals apprehended Azhar and handed him over to the police.
Bhaluka Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir confirmed that the accused was detained by locals and handed over to the police. A case has been filed in connection with the incident, and the victim has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
