The deceased have been identified as Aolad Hossain (23), Habil (22), and Kaiyum (22). The injured, Imon (20), is currently undergoing treatment in Dhaka. All the victims and the injured are residents of Khilapara village in Rashunia Union, Sirajdikhan.
According to locals, the victims were returning home on a motorcycle after work. Due to rain, the motorcycle lost control and veered into the service lane of the expressway. At that moment, an unidentified private car coming from the opposite direction struck them and fled the scene. Aolad and Habil died on the spot. Kaiyum and Imon were rushed to Nimtala Ideal Clinic, where doctors declared Kaiyum dead.
Dewan Azad Hossain, Station Officer of Srinagar Fire Service, said they received information about the incident and promptly recovered the bodies and sent the injured to the hospital.
Mohammad Abu Naim Siddiqui, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hasara Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that the motorcycle, carrying four riders, lost control due to rain and fell. A private car from the opposite direction ran them over, resulting in two immediate deaths at the scene and one more in the hospital.
Earlier that day, another accident on the expressway in the Solaghar area of Srinagar claimed three lives when a speeding private car overturned. In total, six people lost their lives in two separate incidents on the expressway within a single day.
