The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) has arrested two prime suspects in two separate murder cases through operations conducted in Khulna and Faridpur. The arrests were made on Sunday, August 17, and RAB Headquarters confirmed the details in a press release on Monday, August 18.
According to the press release, Azharul Sardar (36), a fugitive accused in the murder of his stepson in Dhaka’s South Keraniganj, Chunkutia area, was apprehended in Khulna’s Harintana area at around 9:25 PM on Sunday. During initial questioning, he confessed to strangling his 14-year-old stepson, Rakibul Sardar, at his rented house on August prize.
In a separate operation, RAB-10 arrested Zahurul Munshi, alias Sultan Zahir (25), the main suspect in a murder case involving the recovery of a body in a sack from a beel (wetland) in Faridpur’s Bhanga area. The arrest was made in Bhanga’s Charaldia area at around 3:25 AM on Monday. Items recovered from his residence include a knife used in the crime, blood-stained clothes, a pair of shoes, a Bank Asia ATM card, a driving license, a wallet, and the victim’s Suzuki motorcycle.
During preliminary interrogation, Zahurul Munshi admitted to killing a 28-year-old named Redwan with a knife and disposing of the body in the beel’s water. RAB stated that legal actions have been initiated against the arrested individuals.
