Police have recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from two separate locations in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, on Wednesday (August 13) morning.
According to Mohammad Shahinur Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station, around 9:00 AM, locals reported seeing the body of an unidentified young man floating in the DND Lake in the Painadi CI Khola area. Police promptly arrived at the scene and recovered the body. The identity of the deceased, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, remains unknown. It is suspected that the man was killed, and his body was dumped in the lake. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy. Police are working to identify the victim and uncover the circumstances of the killing.
On the same day, around 9:30 AM, police recovered the body of a woman, identified as Sabina Akter Lucky (32), with her throat slit, from a residence in the Narayanganj Roads and Highways (RHD) residential colony in Shimrail, Siddhirganj. She was the wife of local resident Rubel Miah. Sources indicate that many retired RHD employees continue to live in the colony illegally, some of whom rent out their residences to outsiders.
According to police, citing local sources, Sabina Akter Lucky, despite being married to Rubel Miah, was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with a neighbor named Nirab for a long time. She frequently visited Nirab’s residence, including on Tuesday night. Her body was discovered on Wednesday morning. Nirab has been absconding since the incident.
Inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman of Siddhirganj Police Station stated, “We have recovered Lucky’s body from Nirab’s residence. Preliminary findings suggest the murder may have stemmed from a personal or family dispute. Evidence has been collected from the scene.”
OC Shahinur Alam added that the victim’s young children are unable to provide detailed information about the incident. Contact has been made with Sabina’s husband, Rubel Miah, who is on his way to the police station.
