Police recovered the body of a night guard named Alam Hossain (55) from the Kushtia District Food Controller Office on Tuesday morning around 9:00 AM. The body was retrieved after breaking open the office door and has been sent to the morgue at Kushtia General Hospital for an autopsy.
The deceased, Alam Hossain, was the son of the late Shahar Ali Sheikh from Dahkola village in Kushtia Sadar Upazila. Preliminary assumptions suggest that his death may have been due to illness.
Alam’s brother, Enamul Haque, stated, “As usual, Alam went to the Food Controller Office on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning, we were informed that he was not waking up. We went to the office, and with the help of the police, broke open the door to recover his body. We believe it was a natural death, and we have no complaints against anyone.”
Md. Al-Waziur Rahman, the District Food Controller of Kushtia, said, “Around 8:00 AM, the office cleaner, Azizur Rahman, arrived and called out to Alam but received no response. We informed the police and his family. Around 9:00 AM, the door was broken open, and his body was recovered. There were no visible signs of injury on the body. We suspect he died due to illness while sleeping.”
Mosharraf Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, added, “The incident is under investigation. No complaints have been filed, and the family claims it was a natural death.”
