Narayanganj Woman Killed by Brother-in-Law Over Loan Dispute, Accused Surrenders

In a tragic incident in Kushiyara Union of Bandar Upazila, Narayanganj, Nadia Akter (25) was stabbed to death by her brother-in-law, Raviul Hasan Abir (30), who later surrendered to the police. The incident occurred on Sunday morning (August 3), as confirmed by Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali.

Raviul, son of the late Abul Hossain from the upazila, surrendered to the Bandar Police Station after the incident and is currently in custody. The victim, Nadia Akter, was the daughter of Shahjahan Dewan from Kanarampur, Mymensingh.

According to family members, Nadia's husband, Rasel, had taken a loan from an NGO in Raviul’s name some time ago. Rasel failed to repay the loan and went into hiding, leaving the burden of repayment on Raviul. This led to ongoing disputes between the brothers.

On Sunday morning, an argument over this loan dispute escalated, and Raviul attacked Nadia with a sharp knife, resulting in her death on the spot.

OC Liakat Ali said, “This morning, Raviul stabbed his younger brother’s wife, Nadia Akter, to death. He then surrendered at the police station. He is currently in custody, and legal proceedings are underway. The body has been sent for autopsy.”
