On the first anniversary of the fall of the fascist government, over a hundred colorful helicopter-shaped balloons were released into the sky at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital to mark the ‘July Uprising Day.’ The symbolic balloon festival became one of the main attractions of the event. Organizers stated that the balloons were flown to commemorate the moment when former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5 last year.
At 2:25 PM, the anniversary of Sheikh Hasina’s departure was celebrated with the release of balloons, filling the sky with red, blue, yellow, and white smoke. Over a hundred colorful flares were lit, symbolizing the downfall of the autocratic regime through the imagery of helicopter-shaped balloons. The organizers noted, “These balloons represent the memory of that moment and the farewell to the dictator.” The crowd present at the event filled the area with chants of “No Fear, Only Victory.”
The entire balloon release program was conducted under tight security, with volunteers ensuring discipline as the balloons were released in phases. Security forces maintained vigilant oversight throughout the event, ensuring its smooth execution. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the ‘July Declaration’ will be read out at 5:00 PM at Manik Mia Avenue. The organizers have stated that the declaration will outline the country’s political future, reform plans, and the goals and commitments of the interim government.
