Attempted Murder Case Filed in Ishwarganj, Mymensingh Over Rejected Love Proposal

A case has been filed at Ishwarganj police station in Mymensingh after a madrasa student was allegedly attacked and had her throat slashed for rejecting a love proposal. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Majhiakandi village, under Ishwarganj Sadar Union.

According to information gathered from family members and locals on Thursday, the victim stepped out of her house to attend to a personal need. At that moment, Yasin Miah (22), son of the victim’s neighbor Billal Miah, who was lying in wait, grabbed her, covered her mouth, and slashed her throat with a knife. He also inflicted multiple injuries on various parts of her body, leaving her bleeding profusely before fleeing the scene.

Family members rescued her and rushed her to Ishwarganj Hospital, where the attending doctor referred her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. She underwent surgery that night and is currently receiving treatment in the ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The victim’s elder sister revealed that Yasin had proposed that her sister elope with him, but she refused. In retaliation, Yasin allegedly attempted to kill her. On Thursday, the victim’s elder brother, Azizul, filed a case at Ishwarganj police station, naming Yasin and four others as accused. Following the incident, Yasin and his family members fled their home.

Ishwarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Obaydur Rahman confirmed that a case has been filed, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.
