Sakib Hossain, son of Anwar Hossain, hails from Barshan village in Bhatgram Union of Nandigram upazila.
On Thursday night (July 24), the girl’s father filed a written complaint against Sakib at the Nandigram Police Station.
According to the complaint, Sakib had been harassing the girl, who is from the same village, for a long time. Despite repeatedly rejecting his romantic proposals, the girl faced persistent advances. Angered by her refusal, Sakib allegedly created and shared obscene photos and videos of her on Facebook. Sakib claimed that he had married the girl. The complaint further states that on July 24 at around 3:30 PM, defamatory posts and images of the girl were uploaded from a Facebook account named ‘RS Sakib Chowdhury.’
Commenting on the allegations, Sakib Hossain said, “Everyone in the village knows that her marriage was fixed with me. I didn’t post anything bad on Facebook. The marriage didn’t happen for some reason, and that’s why a complaint has been filed against me. I admit I made some mistakes.”
Nandigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozaharul Islam confirmed receiving the complaint, stating, “We have received the complaint, and necessary legal action will be taken after investigation.”
The incident has caused widespread anger in the community, with many expressing concerns over the misuse of social media to violate personal privacy and dignity.
