Papiya Khatun was apprehended on Saturday night from Banshbaria village in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga Upazila. Earlier that day, she allegedly murdered her husband, Monirul Islam, in their home around noon.
According to the Officer-in-Charge of Jibannagar Thana, Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas, Papiya had been pressuring Monirul for some time to provide funds to send their son overseas. After the murder, she fled the scene discreetly.
Notably, on Saturday afternoon, police recovered the body of Monirul Islam (50), a day laborer, with his throat slit, from their home in Madhabpur village, Jibannagar Upazila, Chuadanga. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
