Three officials from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) have been temporarily suspended following allegations of extorting money from a drug dealer during a raid in Bahadipur, Bhuanpur, Tangail. The decision was announced through an office order issued by the DNC headquarters on Monday.
The suspended officials are Inspector Md. Sirajul Islam, Sub-Inspector Md. Mostafizur Rahman, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Md. Ziaur Rahman from the Tangail DNC office.
According to the office order, on June 18, during an anti-drug operation in Bahadipur, Bhuanpur, Tangail, the three officials allegedly extorted money from the residence of Saleha Begum. They have been temporarily suspended to ensure a fair investigation into the allegations.
A source related to the investigation revealed that the officials allegedly took Tk 9 lakh from the house of Saleha Begum, a suspected drug dealer, during the raid. Following the complaint, they were initially removed from their duties. A preliminary investigation found evidence of misconduct, leading to their temporary suspension.
