In Dhaka’s Shyamoli area, robbers not only took a man’s mobile phone and wallet at machete-point but also stripped him of his clothes and shoes. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Friday in an alley in Shyamoli. The victim, Shimiyon Tripura (30), who works at a private organization, filed a case against unidentified individuals on Saturday regarding the robbery. Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Imaul Haque confirmed the incident to Prothom Alo. He stated that a private sector employee in Shyamoli was threatened with a machete, and his mobile phone and money were snatched. Additionally, the robbers took the victim’s clothes and shoes. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. OC Imaul Haque added that efforts are underway to identify and bring the culprits to justice by collecting and reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. In the case filed, Shimiyon Tripura stated that he works at a private company in Dhamrai and resides in Shyamoli. On Friday morning at around 6 a.m., he left his home in Shyamoli for Savar. As he reached the eastern side of Mary Gold International School in Shyamoli, a motorcycle stopped behind him. Three individuals got off the motorcycle, threatened him with a machete, and took his mobile phone, wallet, and credit card. A video circulating on social media shows that after taking his money and phone, the robbers forced the victim to remove his clothes and shoes, which they also took.
