Muradnagar Rape Case: Forensic Test Conducted After 12 Days, Four Accused Sent to Jail

In Cumilla’s Muradnagar, the forensic medical examination of a 25-year-old woman who was raped and tortured has been completed 12 days after the incident. The examination was conducted voluntarily on Tuesday (July 8) afternoon at Cumilla Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, four accused in the case involving the assault and circulation of a video have been sent to jail after a three-day remand period.

The woman was assaulted on the night of June 26. She filed a rape case at Muradnagar Police Station on June 27. On June 28, she was taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for a medical examination but refused at the last moment. She was brought back to Muradnagar without the test. On Tuesday, she voluntarily underwent the examination. The case’s investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin of Muradnagar Police Station, told Prothom Alo, “Legally, a victim cannot be forced to undergo a medical examination. Although she was taken to Cumilla earlier, she returned without the test. She is not staying at her father’s house but is in contact with the police. Realizing the importance of the test, she agreed voluntarily. This is positive for the investigation.” **Four Accused Sent to Jail** The four accused—Mohammad Ali alias Suman, Ramzan Ali, Md. Arif, and Md. Anik—were produced in a Cumilla court on Tuesday afternoon after a three-day remand. They were brought from Cumilla Central Jail to Muradnagar Police Station on Saturday for interrogation. Police reported that Suman and Ramzan had expressed willingness to give confessional statements, but they refused in court. The court ordered their imprisonment. Mohammad Ali is a former leader of a banned ward committee of Chhatra League. Ruhul Amin said, “Interrogation provided some information, which is being verified. Although Suman and Ramzan indicated they would confess, they refused in court, and all four were sent to jail.” **Main Accused Under Treatment** The primary accused, Fazr Ali, is under police custody in a hospital. Local youths broke his limbs during the incident. He was arrested from Dhaka on June 29. Ruhul Amin stated that Fazr Ali’s condition has not improved, requiring surgery, and it may take two months for his hospital discharge. **Video Circulation Allegations** Police have sought a seven-day remand for Shah Paran, accused of circulating the video and brother of Fazr Ali. He was arrested by RAB from Burichang Upazila on Thursday and handed over to Muradnagar Police on Friday. On Saturday, he was shown arrested in the case under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act and Pornography Control Act. A remand hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. According to the case details, on June 26 night, Fazr Ali broke into the victim’s home over a loan dispute, broke the tin door, and raped her. Local youths later assaulted both Fazr Ali and the victim in a naked state, and the video was circulated on social media. The victim filed a rape case on June 27 and another for video circulation on June 29.
