According to police and the victim’s family members, a group of miscreants attacked Ariful with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. Locals rescued him and initially took him to a nearby hospital. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at around 8:00 AM.
Nazma Begum, a relative of Ariful’s wife, stated that he had gone out early in the morning to buy cigarettes when a group of four to five individuals—identified as Robin, Shahin, Masud, and Kader—assaulted him. They reportedly attacked him on the head and both arms and fled the scene with his mobile phone.
Sub-Inspector Amir Hossain of Gendaria Police Station said that preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been the result of a prior enmity. The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the incident.
Ariful hailed from Balurchar village in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur district. His father’s name is Sekendar Ali. Ariful had been living with his wife and family in a rented house near the Dayaganj gas pump in Mirhazirbagh. He was the owner of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
