On Wednesday (23 July), a mild heatwave swept through vast areas of six divisions. The highest temperature recorded was 38°C in Rajarhat, Kurigram, while the highest rainfall of 33 mm was recorded in Rangamati.
According to the weather forecast, on Thursday, most areas of Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, along with many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Additionally, some areas in Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may see moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall. Daytime temperatures across the country may slightly decrease, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The mild heatwave affecting Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may subside in many areas.
Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa stated, “There is a possibility of a low-pressure system forming over the sea on Thursday, which may intensify into a depression, leading to increased rainfall.” Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman added, “Initially, coastal areas will experience more rainfall, followed by heavy rainfall in the northern regions.”
