Maulana Abdur Rab Yusufi, Senior Vice-President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, stated that the conscious Tawhidi people, pro-Islamic forces, and democracy-loving citizens of Bangladesh viewed the so-called national election of January 7, 2024, as a complete farce and a rigged election. He said that through this election, conducted without public participation and in an autocratic manner, the government has undermined the dignity of democracy. He further remarked that those who participated in that fake election have, in reality, aided the establishment of the Awami government’s fascism. Therefore, forming any alliance or unity with them for Islamic forces is unrealistic, illogical, and a deviation from principles. He made these statements as the chief guest at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh Mymensingh Metropolitan Council on Wednesday (July 9). The council was held at the SR Community Center in Akua Bypass Road, Mymensingh, presided over by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Sadi, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh Mymensingh District and Central Vice-President, and jointly moderated by Maulana Nur Uddin Sarkar and Maulana Tanvir Ahmad. **“No Unity with Those Who Participated in the Rigged Election of ’24”: Jamiat** *“Sheikh Hasina and Her Awami League Should Also Face Justice”: Mirza Fakhrul* Other speakers included Central Vice-President Maulana Nazmul Hasan Kasemi, Joint Secretary-General Mufti Kefayetullah Azhari, Assistant Secretary-General Maulana Mahbubullah Kasemi, Organizational Secretary Maulana Lokman Mazhari, Maulana Muhammad bin Hafizzi, Publicity Secretary Mufti Imranul Bari Siraji, Mufti Zakir Hossain, Maulana Abdullahil Baki, and Maulana Wali Ullah Subhani, among others. Maulana Yusufi further stated that there has recently been much talk about forming a broader alliance among pro-Islamic forces. However, to move forward with such unity, it is essential to address some critical ethical and ideological questions first. In the past, some Islamic parties and organizations openly labeled a particular party as “anti-Islamic.” Now, some of those same groups are attempting to form an Islamic alliance with that party. This creates confusion among grassroots workers, Tawhidi people, and other pro-Islamic groups. He said, “You can form an alliance with any party; that is your political right. But it cannot be called an Islamic alliance. Form it under a different name.” Maulana Lokman Mazhari stated that the government’s advisor, Sharmin S. Morshed, must unconditionally apologize for her derogatory remarks about Qawmi madrasas. Her offensive and insulting statements against the Qawmi madrasa education system are a direct attack on a century-old Islamic education system. Her remarks have not only hurt the Qawmi community but also struck at the hearts of the entire scholar community, devout Muslims, and the Tawhidi people of the country. The historical contributions of Qawmi madrasas to the country’s independence struggle, preservation of morality, and the spread of religious education cannot be denied. The council unanimously appointed Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as President of Mymensingh Metropolitan, Maulana Wali Ullah Subhani as General Secretary, Maulana Nur Uddin Sarkar as Organizational Secretary, Maulana Tanvir Ahmad, and Mufti Saidul Islam Kasemi as Publicity Secretary.
