In Savar, an attack was carried out on a Union Assistant Land Officer and two others for issuing eviction notices to illegal occupants of government land. Local residents rescued the victims and took them to Enam Medical College Hospital for treatment. The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 9) afternoon in Shyamlasi village, Tetuljhora Union, Savar.
The injured are Jahangir Alam, Assistant Officer of Rajfulbaria Union Land Office, Surveyor Abdur Karim, and Office Assistant Akash. Akash, one of the victims, stated, “We went to issue eviction notices to illegal occupants of government land. During this, the occupants attacked us with local weapons. Three of us, including myself, were injured. Locals later rescued us and brought us to Enam Medical College Hospital for treatment.” Dr. Merajul Rayhan Pavel from the Emergency Department of Enam Medical College Hospital told Dhaka Post that Jahangir Alam sustained injuries to various parts of his body and has been admitted for treatment. Savar’s Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jahirul Alam told Dhaka Post that the team, including Assistant Officer Jahangir Alam, Surveyor Abdur Karim, and Office Assistant Akash, went to issue eviction notices in the Shyamlasi-Kalatia area under Rajfulbaria Union Land Office. The illegal occupants launched an unexpected attack on them. “After being informed, I notified the police, and we will file a case regarding this incident,” he added. Savar Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jewel Miah told Dhaka Post that police were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the news. “We have not yet received a written complaint from the victims. However, if a complaint is filed, action will be taken against the perpetrators,” he stated.
