Jamaat-e-Islami to Ensure National Recognition for July Martyrs if in Power: Halim
Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has called for maximum preparations to ensure the success of the ‘National Assembly’ scheduled for July 19 at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka. He made this appeal during a meeting organized by the Dhaka South Region at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Monday (July 7) evening. The meeting was attended by district and metropolitan council members, as well as upazila and thana ameers and secretaries. The event was chaired by Saiful Alam Khan Milon, a member of the Central Executive Council and Director of the Dhaka South Region.In his speech, Maulana Abdul Halim emphasized the importance of the upcoming National Assembly, stating, “The National Assembly on July 19 at Suhrawardy Udyan must be executed with utmost preparation. It will demand justice for all mass killings, implementation of necessary fundamental reforms, realization of the July Charter and Declaration, rehabilitation of families of the martyrs and injured from the July uprising, holding national elections under the PR system, ensuring voting rights for expatriates, and establishing a level playing field.” He stressed the need for extensive publicity, public engagement, and mobilizing grassroots support to make the event successful. Halim also expressed gratitude to Allah for the restoration of the party’s registration and its ‘scale’ symbol after 12 years7) He further noted, “Over the past 18 years, despite the killing of top Jamaat leaders, enforced disappearances, murders, and various forms of persecution of hundreds of leaders and activists, the party’s ideological movement could not be stopped and will not be stopped in the future, Inshallah.” Halim reiterated Jamaat’s commitment to ending oppression and establishing a prosperous state based on justice and fairness. He declared, “If Jamaat comes to power, the martyrs of the July uprising will be given national recognition, and we will ensure the rights of the people are restored.” The meeting was attended by notable figures, including Central Working Council member Maulana Moin Uddin Ahmad, Narayanganj Metropolitan Ameer Maulana Abdul Jabbar, Dhaka District Ameer Maulana Delwar Hossain, Munshiganj District Ameer Maulana Ruhul Kuddus, and Narsingdi District Ameer Maulana Mosleh Uddin, along with other council members, thana ameers, and secretaries from the concerned districts and metropolitan areas. **Additional News:** On the fourth day of the HSC examinations, 43 students and 4 teachers were expelled for alleged cheating. The incidents occurred during exams for subjects including Information and Communication Technology, English First Paper, Accounting, Chemistry, and Economics.
