The deaths of all five family members were confirmed by Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the National Burn Institute.
He stated that on Friday, July 11, 2025, in the early hours, five members of the same family from Sutrapur were admitted to the Burn Institute in critical condition with severe burns. They were Md. Ripon, his wife Chandni (28), and their three children, Tamim, Rokn, and Ayesha.
On Thursday afternoon, Chandni, who had 45 percent burns, was being taken to her family’s village home in Rangabali, Patuakhali, in critical condition under family care. Her condition deteriorated en route, and she passed away, marking the death of the entire family.
Ripon’s uncle, Zakir Hossain, shared that his nephew was a van driver by profession. On Friday, around 3:30 AM, the family was asleep when a sudden explosion caused by a suspected gas leak blew up their home. He added, “This accident claimed the lives of my nephew’s three children, my nephew Ripon, and finally his wife Chandni.”
