A farmer named Swadhin Islam (25) was killed and two others were injured in a lightning strike in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 10 AM in the fields of Paschim Patichhara village under Patichhara Union. The deceased, Swadhin Islam, was the son of Rahman Sonar of the same village.
According to Patichhara Union Parishad Chairman Sabedul Islam Rony, Swadhin had been plowing his field with a power tiller since morning. When it began to rain around 11 AM, he left the tiller and took shelter on the veranda of a nearby shed. At that moment, lightning struck, killing him on the spot. Two others—a man and a woman—who were nearby, were also injured.
The Officer-in-Charge of Patnitala Police Station, Shah Md. Enayetur Rahman, confirmed the incident and said necessary procedures are underway.
