Expelled Youth League Leader Assaults Businessman Over Unpaid Dues

In Parshuram, Feni, a businessman was allegedly beaten up by Md. Sayem, an expelled leader of the Jubo Dal (Youth League), and his followers over a dispute regarding unpaid dues. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 9, in Parshuram North Bazaar. Md. Sayem is the president of the Jubo Dal for Ward No. 5, South Kolapara.

The incident came to public attention on Saturday, July 12, when a video of the assault went viral on social media. The 5-minute-40-second video shows Md. Sayem, along with his nephew Foysal and 5-6 others, brutally beating the businessman. At one point, they stripped the victim's clothes while continuing the assault. The video also captures Sayem introducing himself as a Jubo Dal leader and hurling abuses at the victim while dragging him out of his shop.

The victim, businessman Suman, alleged, “I was brutally beaten by Md. Sayem, the Jubo Dal president of Ward No. 5, South Kolapara, and his nephew Foysal, along with others, for asking for my unpaid dues.”

Suman further stated that he received treatment at the Parshuram Upazila Health Complex and is now staying at home. However, he remains in fear. He plans to discuss with his family before deciding whether to file a case.

Multiple attempts to contact Md. Sayem for comment were unsuccessful as his phone was found switched off.

Misfaqus Samad Roni, senior joint convener of Parshuram Poura Jubo Dal, stated that Sayem was expelled from the party on June 25 for engaging in activities against party discipline.
