Nasir Uddin, the General Secretary of Chhatra Dal, has alleged that efforts are being made to create a ‘mob’ to mislead general students. He further claimed that covert operatives of Shibir are orchestrating this mob against Chhatra Dal.
On Monday, Nasir Uddin made these remarks while speaking to journalists before a pre-announced protest rally in front of the organization’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka. Leaders and activists from various units, including the central committee, Dhaka University, four metropolitan areas of Dhaka, as well as other universities, colleges, and thanas in the capital, participated in the rally. The activists raised slogans demanding resistance against covert conspiracies, prevention of mob creation, and ensuring a conducive environment in educational institutions. Chhatra Dal announced this program on Sunday to protest against “attempts to create a mob by covert organizations, disruption of a conducive educational environment, and the deterioration of law and order across the country.” Speaking to the media before the rally, Nasir Uddin Nasir, the General Secretary of the organization, said, “Using the Mitford murder incident as a pretext, so-called general students are being manipulated to create a mob against Chhatra Dal, misleading ordinary students. It is deeply unfortunate that they have also created various propaganda against our acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. Several other heinous murders have occurred over the past week, but they have not misled students regarding those incidents. Only the Mitford incident is being exploited by Shibir’s covert operatives to create a mob and mislead general students.” He added, “Today’s protest rally is against these malicious activities. Through this, we want to clarify our stance. However, we do not intend to create any disorder through this.” The pre-announced protest rally began around 3:30 PM from the central office in Naya Paltan. The procession passed through Kakrail, Matsya Bhaban, Press Club, Curzon Hall, and TSC before concluding at Shahbagh. Leaders and activists from Chhatra Dal’s central committee, Dhaka University, Dhaka metropolitan areas, and various universities, colleges, and thana units in the capital participated in the rally.Monday, July 14, 2025
