A businessman was brutally stabbed to death in Khulna city on Monday (July 21, 2025) around 9:30 p.m. in the Nirala Kanchabazar area of Ward 24, according to Khulna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Haoladar Sanwar Hussain Masum.The victim, Zakir Hossain, aged 50, hailed from Morelganj Upazila in Bagerhat. He resided in a rented house on Nirala’s 17th Road and owned a shop in the area, along with a dealership for a mosquito coil company.
OC Masum stated that after being stabbed by miscreants, Zakir Hossain ran and collapsed near a shop. Local residents rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The OC noted visible stab wounds on the victim’s back and abdomen. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest it may be related to extortion or prior enmity. Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators by reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
