The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called a meeting of its standing committee tonight, which will be chaired by the party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. The announcement was made by BNP’s press wing on Wednesday (July 16).
Meanwhile, the attack on the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) ‘March to Gopalganj’ program, involving cocktail explosions and the setting ablaze of law enforcement vehicles, remained a major topic of discussion in political circles throughout the day.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the attack on NCP. He stated, “Seeing the wave of mass movements across the country, the Awami League’s allies are now resorting to extreme anarchy out of panic. There is no alternative but to suppress these miscreants with a firm hand.”
