A fisherman named Sirajul Islam (50) died after being struck by lightning while fishing in Bolakandir Haor near Achalatpur village in Elongjuri Union, Itna Upazila, Kishoreganj. The incident occurred on Tuesday (July 22) morning. Sirajul, son of the late Nabi Hossain from Achalatpur village, earned his livelihood through farming and fishing.According to Sirajul’s neighbor, Md. Naim, Sirajul had gone fishing in Bolakandir Haor near his home with a small dinghy boat on Tuesday morning. As it began to rain, a sudden lightning strike caused him to fall from the boat, resulting in his death on the spot. Local residents later recovered his body.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Itna Police Station, Md. Zafar Iqbal, confirmed the incident.
