A five-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to an attempted rape in Alinagar, Kamrangirchar, Dhaka. The incident occurred on Friday (July 18) around 5 PM. The accused, Md. Rubel (36), has been absconding since the incident.
The victim’s mother, Rozina Begum, said her daughter, a first-grade student at a local madrasa, had gone to play with the daughters of the accused’s sister. After the other children left, Rubel allegedly forcibly took the girl to his room and attempted to rape her. The child returned home crying and informed her mother about the incident.
Rozina Begum further stated that she filed a case (No. 15, dated 19/07/2025, under Section 9(4)(kha) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000) at Kamrangirchar Police Station on Friday. On Saturday afternoon, the child was taken to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital for a medical examination, where the attending doctor admitted her to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC).
Police have confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend Md. Rubel, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
