Allegation of Repeated Rape by Threatening to Spread Video: Case Filed Against Three, Including a Woman

A young woman has alleged that she was drugged and raped, with the assault recorded on video, which was later used to blackmail her into repeated rapes by threatening to share the footage online. She filed a case against three individuals, including a woman, at the Panchbibi Police Station on Friday night (July 11) after allegedly being raped again that day.

The accused in the case are Ataur Rahman, Nayan Hossain, and his wife, Salma Begum. Among them, Salma Begum has been arrested by the police.

In the case statement, the victim stated that Salma Begum, an acquaintance, invited her to her house two months ago for a chat. During the visit, Salma offered her spicy snacks (jhal muri). Shortly after consuming the snacks, the young woman fell ill. Ataur Rahman, identified as a drug dealer, allegedly raped her during this time and secretly recorded the assault on his mobile phone. He threatened to share the video online and kill her father if she disclosed the incident. Using these threats, she was raped multiple times. Fearing social stigma, she did not initially report the incidents.
Panchbibi Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moinul Islam confirmed the case and told journalists that efforts are underway to arrest the main accused, Ataur Rahman and Nayan Hossain.
