The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed back 10 Bangladeshi citizens, including eight women and two men, through the Dhamairhat border in Naogaon. On Thursday morning, members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained them near the Agrabdigun border pillar 256/7-S.
The incident was confirmed by Lt. Col. Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, the commanding officer of BGB-14 (Patnitala) Battalion.
The detained individuals are Kakli Akter (27), Ruzina Akter (33), Asma Begum (40), Khadija Begum (34), Pakhi Begum (24), Nasrin Begum (33), Ruma Begum (25), Kohinoor Begum (26), Manjurul Islam (36), and Sumon Hossain (27).
Lt. Col. Mohammad Iqbal Hossain stated that BGB personnel spotted the 10 individuals roaming suspiciously about one kilometer inside Bangladesh territory in the Maheshpur area from the zero line of the border.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the group had crossed the border into India at various times to work in Mumbai, with the two men employed as masons and the eight women working as domestic helpers. They were later apprehended by the Indian police (CID) and handed over to the BSF at the Haribangshipur camp on July 29 before being pushed back into Bangladesh.
The BGB officer added that the detained individuals have been handed over to the Dhamairhat Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway.
