Youth Stabbed to Death in Banani’s ‘360 Degree’ Shisha Bar

 A young man named Rahat Hossain Rabbi (31) was stabbed to death at a shisha bar named ‘360 Degree’ in Dhaka’s Banani area. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 14.

Banani Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rasel Sarwar said that the incident took place on the staircase of the second floor of the shisha bar located at Building No. 100 on Road No. 11 in Banani. During an altercation, Rabbi was stabbed in the leg by a few individuals known to him. He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

The OC further stated that Rabbi was at the shisha bar with his friends. The murder stemmed from a verbal dispute. The accused individuals were known to Rabbi and were frequent visitors to the shisha bar. Police are analyzing CCTV footage from the scene to identify and arrest those involved.

Rabbi’s cousin Shakil Shajahan and aunt Kajol Akhtar said that Rabbi was an internet businessman and the elder of two sons of Robiul Alam Hazari from the Mohakhali area. He went out with friends on Wednesday night and did not return home. Early Thursday morning, one of Rabbi’s friends called from his phone to inform them that he had been stabbed. He was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Shakil Shajahan added that while Rabbi was descending the building’s staircase, a known individual named Munna, along with five or six others, began assaulting him. At one point, they stabbed him in the left thigh with a sharp weapon.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Amjad Sheikh of Banani Police Station said that Rabbi’s body was recovered from Kurmitola General Hospital around 7:30 a.m. After completing legal formalities, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy. Preliminary findings suggest that Rabbi died due to injuries from a sharp weapon.
