Local residents reported that smoke and flames were suddenly seen rising from two shops late at night. They quickly used power pumps to spray water and managed to bring the fire under control after nearly an hour of effort, around 2:00 AM. However, by then, the fire had spread, completely reducing five shops to ashes and partially damaging one other.
Preliminary information indicates that the fire completely destroyed Jamal Munshi’s electronics and sound system shop, Ibrahim Hawladar’s rice and grain store, Nizam Uddin’s battery-powered auto-rickshaw repair shop, Siddik Miah’s tea stall, and Rasel Akon’s garment shop.
Rangabali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shamim Hawladar stated that the fire is initially believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Five shops were entirely gutted, and one was partially damaged. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
