In Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj, a young man named Maksudul Hasan Joni (29) was strangled to death due to a dispute over the division of stolen money. The victim’s father filed a murder case on Friday (July 18) night, naming seven individuals as accused. Three of them have been arrested in connection with the case.
On Saturday (July 19) afternoon, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam confirmed the arrests, adding that the process of presenting the arrested individuals to the court is underway.
The arrested individuals are Jahangir Alam, night guard Alamgir Hossain, and Akash. Among them, Jahangir Alam was apprehended by members of RAB-11.
Earlier, on Friday afternoon, Joni’s body was recovered from the Nimaikashari area under Ward No. 3 of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) in Siddhirganj.
According to the police, Joni, along with a group of others, had been involved in theft and robbery in Nimaikashari and surrounding areas. On the night of July 14, around 2 a.m., a dispute arose among them over the division of stolen money. At one point, several members of the group strangled Joni to death and dumped his body in the water accumulated inside the lift shaft of an under-construction building named Takwa Tower.
