In Madarganj, Jamalpur, a young man named Masud Pramanik (23) was stabbed to death in his home under the cover of night. Additionally, another youth, Rubel Pramanik (20), was critically injured with his throat slit by miscreants. On Sunday (July 13), around 11 a.m., the body of the deceased was recovered from the Koyalikandi area of the upazila.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madarganj Model Police Station, Saifullah Saif, confirmed the incident.
The deceased, Masud Pramanik, was the son of Samrat Pramanik from the Koyalikandi area of Charpakerdah Union in the upazila. The injured Rubel Pramanik is the son of Altafur Pramanik from the same area.
According to police and family sources, Altafur Pramanik’s son, who lives in Saudi Arabia, was expected to return to Bangladesh on Sunday morning. For this reason, Altafur’s family members, except Rubel, went to Dhaka airport, leaving Rubel alone at home. On Saturday night around 11 p.m., Rubel, being alone, called his nephew Masud Pramanik to stay with him, and they went to sleep. When neither of them woke up by 11 a.m. on Sunday, Masud’s family members called out to them. Receiving no response, they broke open the door and found Masud’s bloodied body on the bed and Rubel critically injured with his throat slit. Locals rushed Rubel to Madarganj Hospital, and police recovered Masud’s body from the scene.
Masud’s cousin, Akashi Akter, said, “We all ate together until late at night. Afterward, they went to sleep at Rubel’s house. In the morning, when we called and got no response, we broke the door and found them in this condition.”
Masud’s father, Samrat Pramanik, said, “Around 10:30 a.m., when we couldn’t find Masud, I asked his mother to call him. Shortly after, we heard that someone had killed Masud and slit Rubel’s throat. I had enrolled Masud in a training center in Dhaka to send him to Singapore. He was supposed to leave soon. Everything is ruined now.”\
Saifullah Saif, OC of Madarganj Model Police Station, told Dhaka Post, “One person was stabbed to death, and another was injured with a slit throat. A knife was recovered from the scene. Legal action will be taken in this regard.”
