Three ninth-grade students from Adamjee Cantonment Public School have developed a battery-powered robot named “Deligo” capable of delivering goods to specific addresses without human intervention. The robot can self-charge at its dedicated charging station and navigate designated lanes to reach its destination. In May, the team showcased Deligo’s functionality at the Bangladesh round of the World Innovation Competition and Exhibition (WICE), earning a silver medal in the Innovative Social Sciences category. Their victory in the national round has secured them a spot in the final round of WICE in Malaysia this September.

On 28 June, the three creators—Redwan Abrar, Samin Yasir Siddiqui, and Minhaj Islam—visited the Prothom Alo office with Deligo. They explained that the autonomous robot can deliver food, groceries, parcels, and emergency medicines, and assist in rescue operations during emergencies. Highlighting the robot’s technical aspects, Redwan Abrar stated, “The World Innovation Competition and Exhibition (WICE) is an international science and technology competition where innovative projects from various countries are showcased. Our team, ‘ACPS,’ won the national round in Bangladesh, earning the opportunity to compete in the international round. We will present Deligo at the final round in Malaysia in September. The competition aims to encourage young innovators to showcase their ideas and represent their country on a global stage. Students from schools, colleges, and universities will display their projects.” **Technical Capabilities of the Robot** The four-wheeled robot can travel at a maximum speed of 15 kilometers per hour on straight paths and 6.5 to 7 kilometers per hour on curved routes. Equipped with GPS, a camera, and a powerful 20,000 mAh battery, Deligo can navigate to specific destinations. It can identify customers via OTP or card swipe and carry boxes up to 1 foot by 1 foot. The robot’s construction cost approximately 1 lakh taka.
