Seven-Day Remand for Four, Including Retired Lieutenant and Corporal, in Mirpur DOHS Robbery Case

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court has granted a seven-day remand for four individuals, including retired Lieutenant Arif Ahmed Firoz Iftekhar, Corporal Mukul Hossain, Harunur Rashid, and Montasir Ahmed, in connection with a robbery at a residence in Mirpur DOHS. The court issued the order on Monday afternoon following a police request for a 10-day remand. The defense sought to cancel the remand and applied for bail, but after hearing both sides, the court approved a seven-day remand for each accused.

According to the case details, on Sunday around 2:00 p.m., the accused, posing as members of a detective agency and the army, entered a flat owned by a retired major in Mirpur DOHS on Road No. 11. Claiming the presence of illegal arms and drugs, they forced their way in, intimidated the homeowner’s daughter and a domestic worker, and looted valuables, including a three-bhori gold chain, a pair of diamond earrings, an old laptop, four mobile phones, and several bank checks. Following the incident, a local resident, Harunur Rashid, grew suspicious and chased the robbers, leading to their vehicle being intercepted at the NDC checkpoint in Mirpur-12.

A woman named Hosne Ara filed a robbery case against the four at Pallabi Police Station. The police arrested them on Sunday, and they have been placed on remand for interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation.
