Nahid Islam Vows to Fight Indian Hegemony Following Abrar Fahad’s Path

Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), declared, “We are the successors of martyr Abrar Fahad. Standing on the soil of martyr Abrar Fahad and martyr Yamin, we clearly state that from Abrar Fahad to Abu Sayed and Yamin, we will carry forward the anti-hegemony and anti-aggression aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.” He made these remarks during a rally at Kushtia’s Five-Point Intersection on Tuesday (July 8) afternoon.

Nahid further stated, “We are fighting against Indian hegemony following the path of Abrar Fahad. If any political party or faction seeks to become a slave to that hegemony, we will stand against them. The people of Bangladesh will build resistance. We have clearly raised the slogan: not slavery, but freedom. We have freed ourselves from India’s and Delhi’s dominance.”

Earlier, at around 2:30 PM, NCP leaders and activists began their July March on Kushtia’s NS Road despite heavy rain. NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Chief Organizer (South) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (North) Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patowari, Joint Convener Nusrat Tabassum, and Senior Joint Member-Secretary Tasnim Zara waved to people on both sides of the road. The march proceeded through Thana Mor to conclude at a rally at Five-Point Intersection.

In his speech, Nahid said, “We will rebuild our politics and our state. Kushtia’s Abrar Fahad and martyr Yamin have taught us this lesson. We uphold their spirit.” Criticizing the Awami League’s rule, he added, “People could not speak out against Indian hegemony, fascism, or Sheikh Hasina. Anyone who spoke for Islam or Bangladesh was killed or tortured. Martyr Abrar Fahad spoke out during that time. Before the march, NCP leaders visited the grave of BUET student Abrar Fahad in Raydanga village, Kumarkhali Upazila, Kushtia, around noon. They also met with Abrar’s parents. NCP’s Senior Joint Member-Secretary Nahida Sarwar, holding the soil from Abrar’s grave, said, “Dear people of Kushtia, this is the soil from martyr Abrar Fahad’s grave. This is the soil of Bangladesh. We must build this Bangladesh as the Bangladesh of martyr Abrar Fahad. With the oath of this soil, we will build a new Bangladesh, Insha’Allah. The rally concluded at 3:30 PM, after which NCP leaders departed for Meherpur.
