Mitford Murder Case: Three Accused Confess to Killing Sohag


In the brutal murder case of scrap trader Lal Chand, alias Sohag, in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka, three accused individuals have confessed to their involvement in court. The accused are Titon Gazi, Md. Alamgir, and Monir, alias Lomba Monir.

On Thursday (July 17), three separate Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate courts recorded their confessional statements. The accused were produced in court after their remand period ended. They voluntarily agreed to provide confessional statements, following which the case’s investigation officer and Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman applied to record their statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The statements were recorded by the courts of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Md. Monirul Islam, Mohammad Ehsanul Islam, and Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonaid. After the recording, the accused were sent to jail. On July 9, 39-year-old scrap trader Lal Chand, alias Sohag, was brutally hacked, beaten, and bludgeoned to death with stones near the gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital. Following the incident, Sohag’s elder sister filed a murder case at Kotwali Police Station. Additionally, the police filed a separate case under the Arms Act.
