Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), announced today that any party member found engaging in illegal, violent, or harmful activities will face strict disciplinary action. Speaking at a press briefing at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Rizvi emphasized the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and integrity.
“Anyone who does something wrong, illegal, violent, or harmful in the name of the party will not be spared,” Rizvi declared, addressing concerns about individuals exploiting the BNP’s name to intimidate or harass others. “This country must not fall into the hands of thugs. Some are committing unethical acts, bothering people, and creating fear using the party’s name. We have not excused them, and we won’t.” Rizvi revealed that the BNP has already taken action against approximately 4,000 to 5,000 members from various party wings for involvement in criminal activities or dishonest behavior. “As soon as we found out, we took action right away,” he said, underscoring the party’s zero-tolerance policy under the leadership of its acting chairman. The BNP leader further stated that the party has been swift in addressing such issues since August 5, ensuring that those resorting to violence—whether within the party or against others—face consequences. “Anyone who uses violence will face punishment,” he affirmed. In response to a question about the party’s public support, Rizvi stressed the need for transparent elections, stating, “Only a free and fair election can show how much support the BNP really has.” He also called for fair elections to be held as soon as possible to reflect the true will of the people. The BNP’s firm stance on internal discipline and its demand for democratic processes signal its intent to strengthen its organizational integrity while advocating for a fair electoral system in Bangladesh.Friday, July 4, 2025
