Police in Bhairab Upazila, Kishoreganj, have arrested the owner of a shoe factory on charges of raping a female worker. The arrest was made on Monday night around 12:15 AM near the Upazila Complex Road.The arrested individual, Nasir Mia (42), was sent to Kishoreganj Jail through the court on Tuesday.According to police, the 25-year-old female worker had been employed at the factory for several years. Nasir allegedly developed a relationship with her due to her regular commuting to the workplace. He is accused of luring her with promises of marriage and raping her over several months. The woman later became pregnant, but Nasir refused to marry her. Following this, she filed a rape case against him at Bhairab Police Station on Sunday. The complainant stated, “Nasir wanted to establish a physical relationship with me, but I resisted. I tried to protect myself in every way. Eventually, he lured me with promises of marriage and raped me. Now, I am three months pregnant, and filing a case was my only option.” Inspector (Investigation) Taleb Hossain of Bhairab Police Station confirmed that necessary medical examinations of the complainant have been conducted.
